What lighting setup did you use to light up the front of the car like that?

Guessing either long exposure with boucing flash or a long exposure with a flashlight?
I’m curious too.

I’m jealous. I still cant get my astro photos to have that nice, deep field look that is so popular. I assume this is mostly due to location?
Or maybe I just don’t know how use bulb mode properly aha.

Whoa how far out is this? I've only seen stars like this on a cruise! I would love to see this in person

Multiple exposures and an LED wand. I'm missing some light on the roof of the car but I think it works here bc of the sky.

Very dark where I shot this, but also just about finding the right settings. This is also heavily edited in PS and LR, I shot multiple exposures to get this effect.

Fair enough, will try again some time. My local observatory is an hour from my house so I might drop by on their open nights. Its near impossible to get away from the light in Toronto if you dont want to drive over an hour. :(

I get there in 2 flat from my place in Morningside Heights with no traffic, which is near impossible to achieve unless you’re going out Sunday/Monday nights, which I do.

Lots of cops on that route? I can do a Sunday/Monday night. Is there anything particular in the forecast you look for to make sure it’s clear?

Well my gf is working out there this summer, so I’m not just driving out there for photos and leaving. But yes, definitely lots of cops, the LIE is usually infested. Just keep an eye on the weather, if it’s partly cloudy that usually means some fog too so it can be iffy unless it’s really clear.
